About us

Mettech was established in 1990 as the outcome of research at the University of British Columbia on plasma synthesis of sub-micron ceramic particles. This research led to the development of an unique patented high-capacity "Axial Injection Plasma Torch", and in 1994, Mettech's Axial III system was first launched. By 2002, Mettech had also moved into the emerging nanopowder market, channelling significant resources toward producing engineered nanopowder solutions to complement Mettech's core Axial III technology. Today, the company markets and sells its own plasma equipment as well as specialty materials for use with all of the equipment we sell for a number of industries.
Mettech's team of coatings, materials science engineers, mechanical engineers, chemists and business professionals operate state-of-the art coatings equipment manufacturing, powder production and development / testing facilities.
The company has established strategic partnerships with major universities and research institutes including the University of British Columbia, Rutgers University, Carleton University, University of Toronto, the University of Connecticut and National Research Council of Canada institutes to provide the latest material science solutions to its industrial clients.
Mettech brings practical industry experience and material science together, creating a platform for innovation. As a total solutions provider for surface engineered solutions, Mettech's cost effective and efficient plasma spray technologies are perfectly suited for today's high tech and advanced manufacturing clients.
