Bernard Kear –
Director Bernard Kear is the State of New Jersey Professor in the Department of Ceramic and Materials Engineering and Director of the Centre of Nanomaterials Research at RutgersUniversity in New Jersey. Prior to his academic appointment, Professor Kear held the positions of Scientific Advisor at the Materials Sciences Laboratory of Exxon Research and Engineering and Senior Staff Scientist at United Technologies Research Centre in Connecticut. Dr. Kear has published more than 250 articles and holds 40 US patents. He is the co-editor of the journal of Nanostructured Materials published by Pergamon Press. He sits on a range of advisory boards, including the Department of Materials Engineering at DrexelUniversity, the Materials Processing Centre at MIT, the NBS Board of Assessment, and the Advisory Board for Pangaea Ventures, a venture capital fund focused on advanced materials. Dr. Kear obtained his D.Sc. degree in Materials Science in 1970, his Ph.D. degree in 1957 and his B.Sc. degree in 1954 from the University of the University of Birmingham, England.
