Gary Albach, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer

Gary Albach joined Mettech in 2006 as Chairman of the Board of Directors, and was appointed CEO in January 2007. Dr. Albach was founding President of Vortek Industries Ltd., a private semiconductor equipment manufacturer employing plasma arc technology and acquired by it’s US partner in 2004. He was founding CEO of Cogent ChipWare Inc. and a founding director of Innovative Technologies, Actenum Corp, and TIR Systems, a public technology company recently acquired by Phllips. He currently serves on the boards of Ostara Corp., Brightside Technologies, and the BC Technical Industries Association, where he chairs the Commercialization Committee, and is an executive member of the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Albach holds a B.Sc. (Hon) from the University of Waterloo and a Ph.D. in plasma physics from UBC.

Alan Burgess, P.Eng.
President and Chief Operating Officer



Alan Burgess is a co-fonder of Mettech and has been President and a director since it was established in 1990. Mr. Burgess holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia.

Zbignew Celler, P.Eng.
Vice President of Engineering

Zbig Celler has over 30 years experience in plasma engineering and product development in Europe and North America. Before joining Mettech in 1994, his professional practice revolved around academic and high-tech industries including Corning Glass Works, The University of Paris, The University of British Columbia, Corona Vacuum Coaters, Techware Systems, Microelectronics Pacific Research, and Quantum Technology. His industrial and scientific experience include Materials Engineering, Process Development and Control, Plasma Physics, and Surface Coatings. Zbig holds an M.A.Sc. from the University of Warsaw, and is an active member of APEG.

Chris Ebbehoj, CA
Chief Financial Officer

Chris Ebbehoj brings over 20 years of management and financial leadership to Northwest Mettech. He has public practice experience in audit, tax, and insolvency. He has worked for both large and small public and private companies. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC. Chris is a CA who received a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in both Finance and Accounting from the University of British Columbia.
